A new trailer has been released for Star Wars Battlefront 2 that shows some of the new content from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that is coming to the game, including new appearances for Finn, Kylo Ren, and Rey. EA Dice had previously revealed that The Rise of Skywalker content was coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in a future update and that it would coincide with the release of the movie.
The Rise of Skywalker content in Star Wars Battlefront 2 is included as part of the Celebration Edition of the game. The existence of the Celebration Edition had leaked on digital storefronts earlier this month, where it was revealed that it would contain all of the purchasable cosmetic items that were available in the past. The Celebration Edition includes over twenty-five Hero Appearances (including characters from The Rise of Skywalker, which will be available on December 17). over one hundred and twenty-five Trooper and Reinforcement Appearances, over one hundred Hero and Trooper Emotes & Voice Lives, and over seventy Hero and Trooper Victory Poses.
A new trailer has been released on the EA Star Wars YouTube channel for The Rise of Skywalker content in Star Wars Battlefront 2. The trailer shows a battle taking place on a new jungle planet map that will be available in a future update. The Resistance forces are showing battling against the First Order, with BB-8 scrambling around the battlefield, while the new First Order Jet Troopers take to the skies and rain havoc down upon their enemies. Kylo Ren and Rey enter the battlefield, resulting in a lightsaber battle as clips of characters from the other Star Wars movies are shown.
All of the content in The Rise of Skywalker update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be available to those who purchase the Celebration Edition of the game.The people who already own Star Wars: Battlefront 2 can upgrade to the Celebration Edition for $24.99/£19.99. According to the official Star Wars Battlefront 2 website, the first The Rise of Skywalker update will be available on December 17, with the jungle planet becoming available on December 20 and BB-8 becoming playable in January 2020.
The Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box controversy seemed as if it was going to result in EA losing the license for future Star Wars titles, but the game has undergone some major improvements over the past two years. EA may have screwed up the launch of Star Wars Battlefront 2 during the release of The Last Jedi, but the buzz surrounding the game is way more positive now than it was back in 2017. There might not be a Star Wars Battlefront 3 any time soon, but there is enough content in the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker update to keep fans returning to Jakku for years to come.
The Rise of Skywalker content will be available in Star Wars Battlefront 2 starting on December 17, 2019.
