Fuller House Season 5 Gets December Release Date On Netflix

Fuller House season 5 gets an early December release date on Netflix. A continuation of the popular 90s sitcom Full House, the Netflix show premiered in 2016 with Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber starring as adult versions of the characters they originally played over 20 years ago. The show’s story centers around DJ Tanner-Fuller (Bure), a widowed mother of three whose sister Stephanie (Sweetin) and childhood best friend (Barber) live together in the Tanners’ childhood home in San Francisco.

Even though the original series’ stars, Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin weren’t regulars in Fuller House, they did make numerous guest appearances throughout the first four seasons. With Loughlin facing multiple charges in the “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal, it was announced that she had been fired from the show prior to filming season 5. In June, Bure spoke about how it was an “emotional” time for everyone and even though the writers had finally decided Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky will get divorced, it was still a trying time for the cast.

Now, TV Line reports that Netflix will release the first half of Fuller House season 5 on Friday, December 6th – just in time for some holiday binging. The fourth season of the show brought about many big life changes for the Tanner-Fuller clan, as Stephanie and her fiancé Jimmy had just welcomed a baby through their surrogate, Kimmy. One big thing that fans can expect to learn in this final season is the name of the new baby, as the season 4 finale kept that vital information from viewers.

It’s also been reported that many original series players will be making appearances throughout this final season of Fuller House, including Saget as Danny Tanner, Coulier as Joey Gladstone and Stamos as Uncle Jesse Katsopolis. They just recently wrapped up filming of season 5 on November 15th, which was said to be quite the emotional rollercoaster for most of the cast as they have been playing these characters off and on for almost 30 years - which is practically unheard of in television.

Even though the show started out very strong in terms of numbers for its debut in 2016, this past year it has seemed to face scandal after scandal - with Jeff Franklin, the creator and showrunner of the original series getting fired and then proceeding to sue the show’s current showrunner Bryan Behar. Fans of the original series were happy to see some of their favorite characters come back in this continuation series, but Fuller House often faced criticism for not always hitting the same high notes as the original series. Maybe it is about time for the Fuller-Tanner clan to pack things up (metaphorically) and finally move on.
