Tremors 7 First Look Reveals Burt Gummer’s Shocking Transformation

Movies

Production on Tremors 7 is currently underway. Burt Gummer actor Michael Gross has shared the first look at the highly anticipated sequel. Gross posted a picture of himself on social media with the caption, “Burt Gummer as you’ve never seen him before.” And as Gross shows, it really is an entirely brand-new look for the character and one that will have long-time fans scratching their heads, or possibly even their chins. Gummer is going to be sporting a new white beard, looking like a mall version of Santa, which isn’t really a new look for Gross.

Tremors 7 is reportedly being called Tremors: Island Fury. We have yet to receive confirmation on that, but it appears to at least be the working title for the sequel. With a new look for Michael Gross in the sequel, fans may be getting flashbacks to 2015 when the actor took part in the TV movie Becoming Santa. That’s basically what Gross looks like again, but he’ll be taking on a completely different role this time around as he faces the Graboids again.

Last week, Jon Heder joined Tremors 7. In addition to Michael Gross and Jon Heder, Tremors 7 also stars Richard Brake, Caroline Langrishe, Jackie Cruz, Cassie Clare, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Matthew Douglas, Randy Kalsi, Bear Williams, David Assavanon, Boonma Lamphon, Aukrawut Rojaunawat, Owen Macrae, Iris Park, and Mikey Black. According to the new synopsis, “The deadly Graboids are back, illegally brought in to a new island resort by a rich playboy looking for a trophy hunt.” This is going to be a completely new take on the franchise and one that sounds pretty interesting at the same time. The plot isn’t exactly original, but the appearance of the Graboids makes it what it is.

Brian Brightly wrote the Tremors 7 screenplay with Don Michael Paul returning to direct. Paul previously directed Tremors 5: Bloodlines and last year’s Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell. The creative team is in place and horror fans are looking forward to see what Paul and Brightly have up their sleeves this time. The Tremors franchise has been able to retain its cult status while also gaining new fans by making new movies that don’t follow any sort of industry norms. Michael Gross and crew work outside of the box and that is something that nearly all fans have come to respect.

It’s unclear when Tremors: Island Fury will come out. Since production is already underway, one can imagine that the movie will be out sooner rather than later, with a summer 2020 release date likely. However, we’ll have to wait until Michael Gross lets us in on the secret. In addition, fans are going to have to wait and see why Burt Gummer looks like Santa this time around. Has he been behind bars? While we wait to find out, you can check out the first look at Tremors 7 below, thanks to Michael Gross’ Facebook page.
