‘The Light Keeps Us Safe’ Busts Out of Early Access With New Tweaks, Fixes

Horror

We previewed Big Robot Ltd’s procedurally-driven survival thriller game The Light Keeps Us Safe last October while it was still in Early Access. Flash forward almost a year, and the game is now out of Early Access on Steam with a host of improvements and fixes.

The biggest new feature of the 1.0 build is the addition of overall difficulty levels. You can not only access these by starting a new game, but you can also change the difficulty on current game saves. The official patch notes also list bunker layout changes and audio fixes. As well, the procedurally-generated world has also been tweaked, with Big Robot promising levels now produce “better environments”.

There are still, however, some performance issues with the game, which Big Robot has tried to eliminate.

Right now, The Light Keeps Us Safe is also enjoying a 15% discount on Steam now until September 12, so if you haven’t yet jumped in, this seems like a good enough persuasion.

In case you’re not familiar, in The Light Keeps Us Safe, you play as a survivor of an apocalypse who must journey outside of their bunker to seek food and shelter. However, on the surface are alien-machine beings that are adverse to light. You’ve got to use stealth to hide in plain sight under light sources, as well as figure out light-based puzzles you may come across.
