Andy Cohen is sharing details about his relationship with boyfriend Kevin Sobieski for the first time, revealing that after years of waiting for the right connection, he believes he has finally found “the person.”
The Bravo host opened up about the relationship during a recent episode of his SiriusXM radio show, just days after photos of the couple holding hands made headlines online.
“I have always said I will know when I meet the person,” Cohen explained. “And I am really happy to say that I met the person, you guys.”
For years, Cohen has fielded questions about his dating life and whether he would eventually settle down. His answer, he said, never changed.
“I’ve always said I will know when I meet the person,” he shared. “My criteria about what I was looking for never changed. It’s always been a feeling for me.”
That feeling arrived unexpectedly last summer.
A Chance Meeting at a July 4 Party
According to Cohen, he first met Sobieski at a friend’s Fourth of July party in the Hamptons nearly a year ago. In a twist that sounds straight out of a romantic comedy, Cohen almost skipped the event altogether.
“I almost didn’t go to the party,” he admitted. “I dragged myself out.”
That decision ended up changing everything. After spotting the mystery man across the gathering, Cohen knew he had to introduce himself.
“I was like, ‘I got to talk to this guy. Who is this guy?’”
The two spent the evening talking, and Cohen was determined to make sure they stayed in touch, even double-checking that he had entered his phone number correctly.
Nearly 11 months later, their relationship is still going strong.
“Kind and Strong and Smart”
While Cohen has kept much of the relationship private, he couldn’t help but gush about what makes Sobieski so special.
“This man is kind and strong and smart and he is an adult,” Cohen said. “He loves my children and they love him.”
The television personality, who is father to son Ben and daughter Lucy, explained that he intentionally took things slowly when introducing his partner into family life.
“We have been so slow and deliberate and methodical about getting to know each other and introducing him to the kids.”
That careful approach, he said, has paid off.
“It has been so easy.”
No Fights, No Drama
Perhaps most surprising for a Bravo star surrounded by reality television drama, Cohen says the relationship has been remarkably conflict-free.
“Eleven months, we’ve not had one fight. We haven’t had a disagreement,” he shared.
The pair, he explained, have similar values and a shared outlook on life.
“We just view life the same way.”
For Cohen, who has often spoken openly about dating and relationships over the years, that sense of ease feels different.
“One year later, I still can’t believe I found him.”
Why He Waited to Share the News
Although photos recently made headlines and social media quickly began identifying his boyfriend, Cohen said he wanted to keep the relationship private until he felt ready to discuss it publicly.
“I just wanted to be smart and slow before saying anything about this.”
He even revealed that several Bravo stars had known about the relationship for months after he showed them photos at BravoCon, yet none leaked the news.
“I showed so many Housewives, you guys, and nobody said a word.”
Cohen originally planned to wait until the couple’s one-year anniversary around July 4 to publicly address the relationship, but the recent attention surrounding the photos sped up the timeline. Still, fans shouldn’t expect a traditional celebrity “hard launch.”
“I’m not the guy who’s going to post a picture of us and say this is a hard launch,” Cohen said. “It’s just not really my style.”
“I Can’t Believe I Found This Guy”
As the conversation wrapped up, Cohen became emotional reflecting on the relationship and the happiness it has brought him.
“I really am happy,” he said. “I just can’t believe I found this guy. I cannot believe it. I’m in shock.”
We’re happy for you, Andy!
