Lola Young is officially back.

The British singer just released her new single “From Down Here,” her first major release since stepping away from the spotlight following her onstage collapse at All Things Go in New York last year.

Following the incident, Young canceled her upcoming performances and announced an indefinite hiatus to “work on herself and come back stronger.”

Now, she seems ready to slowly step back into music on her own terms. Young recently returned to the stage for a special show at London’s Palladium and has announced new live dates, including a return to All Things Go.

Young Releases a New Power Ballad

Produced by James Blake, the track leans into the emotional honesty fans have come to love from Young. Over haunting piano and stripped-back production, she opens up about feeling stuck between the highs of fame and the reality of burnout.

“I miss the high from down here / I used to fly around here / I’m not quite alive, I’m somewhere in between,” she sings on the chorus.

The lyrics feel especially personal after Young’s whirlwind year. Her album I’m Only F**king Myself became a breakout success thanks to songs like “Messy,” which later earned her a Grammy win at the 2026 awards.

“The day after the GRAMMYs, I had a wave of inspiration hit me,” Young shared about the song. “I am rewriting the next chapter of my story because what a boring book it would’ve been anyway.”

“The day after I won a Grammy, I felt high, not the usual kind of high that I was used to feeling, a new kind of high, a pure, organic kind. The real thing,” Young shared on Instagram.

“I hadn’t felt it in so long. It was something I didn’t know I had lost, but fuck, I had missed it so much.”

The singer said she got back in the studio right away, trying to document this feeling.

“‘From Down Here’ doesn’t symbolise being a definitive place of sadness, it simply shows that joy and pain can exist within the same space, at the same time.

“I am re writing the next chapter of my story with this song, because what a boring book the old one would’ve been anyway. I am back, I am well, and I love you all.”

“From Down Here” feels like exactly that: messy, emotional, reflective, and a strong start to whatever comes next for Lola Young.
