Out Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg playfully mocked New Jerseyans for thinking an alien invasion might be starting in their state after thousands of people in the tri-state area reported large drone sightings over the past month.
“I mean no disrespect to New Jersey when I say I think it’s very unlikely that an alien invasion would begin in New Jersey,” Buttigieg said during an appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast, which is co-hosted by Charlamagne Tha God.

“I love New Jersey. I’m just saying I don’t think that’s the main point of entry that an extraterrestrial… unless there’s something we don’t know about,” Buttigieg continued.
“I would go for someplace in the Pacific where there’s no inhabited space for a couple of hundred miles so that I could get kind of my bearings before I go anywhere anyone is going to see me, right?”
Charlamagne replied, “What if they’ve been watching us for years already?”
Buttigieg responded, “Yes, maybe I don’t know.”
“Secretary Pete knows something,” joked Charlamagne.
“There’s millions of things in the national airspace,” Buttigieg retorted.
The drone sightings have sparked significant controversy in the area, with many residents reportedly fearing they could be flown by foreign adversaries or be part of a secret U.S. government operation.
They have also sparked investigations by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. But as of December 20, nothing had yet been determined to be a threat, according to the Associated Press, with many of the sightings being legal drones and aircraft.
