Netflix has ordered up horror drama series “Something Very Bad is Going to Happen” from producers The Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”). Today, Deadline reports that the series has found its stars and enlisted “Baby Reindeer” director Weronika Tofilska to helm four episodes.
Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six, Death Wish) and Adam DiMarco (The White Lotus, The Order) are set to star in the Haley Z. Boston-created horror drama.
As for the plot, the series is “an atmospheric horror series set at a wedding, following a bride (Morrone) and groom (DiMarco) in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler – just read the title…”
Haley Z. Boston serves as series showrunner and executive producer. Boston is no stranger to horror, either, having previously written for Netflix’s “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities “and “Brand New Cherry Flavor.“ That alone bodes well for a series described as “atmospheric horror.“
“We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script. She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley, “the Duffer Brothers said in a statement previously. “We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”
The casting news arrives ahead of “Stranger Things 5,“ the final season in the Duffer Brothers’ popular Netflix show. Also on the way from the Duffer Brothers and Netflix is the supernatural series “The Boroughs,“ described as “Stranger Things “ and Cocoon. The genre series has also lined up impressive talent.
“Something Very Bad is Going to Happen“ is executive produced by The Duffers and Hilary Leavitt alongside Andrea Sperling via her overall deal with Netflix. Tofilska also is an executive producer.
Stay tuned for new details on this series as they arrive.
