‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ and CarMax Reimagine Iconic “Day-O” Song for BeetleMax Short

Ahead of the premiere of one of the year’s most anticipated films,Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, CarMax , and Warner Bros. Pictures are collaborating on a new campaign featuring the characters and imagery from the film. That includes a 90-second short film from CarMax that gives the classic “Day-O” song a BeetleMax twist, featuring the memorable Shrinkers.

Watch the short film below, but be prepared to have “Day-O” stuck in your head.

The partnership and short film drew inspiration from the fake commercial within the original film where Beetlejuice imitates a devious salesman offering free demon possession with every exorcism.

CarMax and Warner Bros. Pictures created their own quirky Model Town, enlisted the iconic Shrinkers, worked with Choreographer Litze Bixter (“Legend,” “Man Up”), and received wardrobe consultation from Academy Award-winning Costume Designer Colleen Atwood (“Sweeney Todd,“Memoirs of a Geisha”).

The new campaign is described as “a playful approach to what car buying should not be – a sharp contrast to CarMax’s commitment to providing a trustworthy and enjoyable car-buying experience for the whole family, the way car buying should be. ”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is likely to strike box office gold when it releases in theaters on September 6.

Michael Keaton stars alongside Winona Ryder in this year’s sequel, and the cast also includes Jenna Ortega, Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for the upcoming sequel: “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic, and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”

Expect to see a whole lot more Beetlejuice by the time the movie arrives in theaters. You can also grab a limited edition Fanta soda or chow down on Denny’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice-themed menu in the meantime.
