Horror

Netflix has already lined up its next series with “Stranger Things” creators The Duffer Brothers; Deadline reports that the streaming service has ordered up new horror drama “Something Very Bad is Going to Happen.”

The series is created by Haley Z. Boston, who will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

“Something Very Bad is Going to Happen” hails from executive producers The Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt via their Upside Down Pictures overall deal with Netflix.

As for the plot? Expect “an atmospheric horror series set at a wedding, following a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler – just read the title…”

Haley Z. Boston is no stranger to horror, either, having previously written for Netflix’s “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities and “Brand New Cherry Flavor.”

We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script. She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley, the Duffer Brothers told Deadline. “We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with dream partners Matt, Ross, and Hilary to bring this unexpected and spine-tingling story to life through Haley’s uniquely riveting vision, said Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s VP of Scripted Series (US & Canada).

The news comes as filming is now halfway complete on “Stranger Things 5, which is set to be the final season of the hit series. Of course, just because the main series is coming to an end doesn’t mean future “Stranger Things projects aren’t on the way. Season 5 was announced as the final season, with additional projects in the universe already in the works, including Stranger Things: The First Shadow live on stage in London’s West End, along with an untitled animated spinoff series.

“Something Very Bad is Going to Happen sounds firmly rooted in horror, with upcoming talent behind it. Considering the body horror in the Boston-penned episode “The Outside of “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities and “Brand New Cherry Flavor, we may be in for a goopy good time.

Stay tuned for additional details as they arrive.
