Ben Platt Releases Tender New Single “Treehouse”

LGBTQ Entertainment News

Tony, GRAMMY, and Emmy winner Ben Platt has just released his touching new single, “Treehouse.” This song features GRAMMY-winning Americana icon Brandy Clark, known for her work on the Broadway musical Shucked. Platt’s latest track comes from his much-anticipated new album Honeymind, set to release on May 31.

Lyrics That Warm the Heart

In “Treehouse,” Platt softly sings, “Love is a treehouse, that you and me house, a little bit closer to heaven.” The gentle guitar picking sets a delicate mood, and Clark joins Platt for the chorus, singing, “Love is a treehouse, one of a kind that you have to see to believe house—all of the climbing is past you and you can breathe now.” The song’s metaphor of building a safe space perfectly captures Platt’s aim to show loving queer relationships in his music.

The Inspiration Behind Honeymind

Platt named his new album Honeymind after a walk with his partner. He described seeing golden light pouring through the treetops, creating a shimmering pattern. “I thought about how to describe to him that I was just so happy to be in love with him,” Platt says. Honeymind reflects this blissful feeling.
