Ti West completes his unique X trilogy with the upcoming MaXXXine, a sequel to 2022 horror movies X and Pearl that will bring Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

But is there a chance we could see a fourth movie in this particular universe? Chatting with the YouTube channel What’s Under the Bed, Ti West teases that he does have an idea that could potentially expand the X Universe even further. He notes, “Maybe. I don’t know.”

There is this one weird idea that I have that is kind of… if I explained it, it would make sense,” West told the YouTube channel. “But we’ll see what happens. Let’s get this movie done first, see if people like it. Then we’ll go from there.”

As for MaXXXine, we don’t yet have a release date but we assume it’s headed our way later this year. West updates, “It’s coming along. I’m almost done editing it. So far, so good.”

MaXXXine‘s cast includes Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.

MaXXXine reverses the franchise’s trajectory through time to pick up with Maxine after the violent events of X, as the sole survivor continues her journey towards fame, setting out to make it as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.”

It’s the best script of the three by far. It’s going be the best movie of the three,” Goth recently told Variety.

Goth continued, “It’s the biggest story of the three with the highest stakes and Maxine has gone through so much at this point. So when we find her in this new world, she’s just a force to be reckoned with and she goes through some pretty wild adventures.”
