Jamie Lynn Spears’ “Dancing With the Stars” journey has come to an end, just one week after she made her debut.
The younger sister of pop star Britney Spears was eliminated at the end of Tuesday’s Latin Night after landing in the bottom three with NFL pro Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart and “Buying Beverly Hills” star Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater.
Jamie Lynn and her pro partner, Alan Bersten, received a combined score of 16/30 from judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli for their electric cha cha to “Shake Senora” by Pitbull, T-Pain and Sean Paul.
Despite the scores placing them at the middle of the leaderboard, it was ultimately the lack of viewer votes – likely from Britney’s legion of loyal supporters campaigning against them online – that sent the two home packing.
Page Six spoke to some of Jamie Lynn’s fellow castmates in the ballroom after the show where they reacted to her shocking elimination and shared what it was like getting to know her in between rehearsals.
“It was kinda sad to see Jamie Lynn leave because we bonded and I worked with her sister,” said Tyson Beckford, who starred in Britney’s’ “Toxic” music video in 1994. “I wanted to do something with her as well because she’s fun people. Hopefully we’ll do something later on the acting side.”
Beckford called Jamie Lynn “straight funny,” telling us how she had the whole cast “rolling” just by “being herself” with her “Southern twang.”
“We’re going to miss her,” he added, revealing a Britney tribute from him and pro partner Jenna Johnson is “in the cards” for later this season.
“Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, who has been a longtime Britney fan and supporter of the #FreeBritney movement, shared similar sentiments.
“It’s crazy because the first night, I saw [her mom] Lynne was in the audience and I’m like, ‘I know who all of these people are,’” she recalled of seeing Britney’s family in the ballroom post-conservatorship battle.
“That elimination was surprising because I thought the scores were good. I think it just goes to show that no matter what the scores are, the votes are so important.”
“Too Hot to Handle” alum Harry Jowsey told us that he and Jamie Lynn formed a special bond in the ballroom right away after first meeting when they filmed a “Zoey 101” music video a few years ago.
“She’s always been sweet, always been lovely to me, but the poor thing gets so nervous,” he shared. “She’ll message me and be like, ‘Are you feeling nervous? I’m really worried about it.’ [And] I didn’t give her any advice! I was like, ‘I’m nervous as well. Can you find someone who can help, ’cause I’m freakin’ out!’”
The reality star added, “She cares so much and she’s just a great person.”
Meanwhile, Marvel star Xochitl Gomez admitted she was “kind of intimated” to talk to Jamie Lynn when they met for the first time at the Season 32 cast reveal.
“I just remember seeing her for the first time and she was kind of like in her own space,” Gomez recalled. “It was one of those things of like, ‘OK, this is also a competition. Are we going to be like family or [competitors]?’ Once I started talking to her, she’s such a sweet person and so getting to know her … is just really special to me.”
Gomez’s pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, echoed those thoughts, adding that Jamie Lynn is “actually f–king hilarious” in person.
“She’s wonderful, she’s really funny,” he said. “I hope that she felt welcomed, I hope that she felt comfortable, I hope that she felt encouraged and celebrated.”
Others, like “Brady Bunch” star Barry Williams, actress Mira Sorvino and “Bachelorette” alum Charity Lawson, praised Jamie Lynn for working through a foot injury she suffered during week one.
While the “Sweet Magnolias” star never revealed what exactly caused the injury – only showing glimpses of it via her Instagram Stories – her castmates saw her limping and struggling behind the scenes.
“She’s an absolute trooper,” said Williams. “I was frankly wondering how she’d do [with the injury] but she turned it on. She was committed to being here.”
Jamie Lynn’s casting on this season of “DWTS” was received with mixed reviews from fans given her rocky relationship with sister Britney.
Despite the pop star now being free from the years-long conservatorship that was put in place by her father, Jamie Spears, in 2008, insiders told Page Six in August that Britney is still not on good terms with her family, including her sister.
It’s unclear whether Britney tuned in to watch her sister dance during the actress’ two short weeks on the dance competition show. Regardless, it appears Jamie Lynn enjoyed the experience.
“Yalllllll, I promise I hear and see all the many wonderfully passionate ppl who are not happy with the way things fell tonight, and i appreciate the tremendous amount [of] love and support,” she wrote in part via Instagram Tuesday night.
“But this was an amazing experience, and I’m very happy to have been apart of it, and soooo excited to see all the fabulous contestants and their partners continue to KILL it each week!!!!!”
“Dancing With the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
