‘Dune: Part Two’ Bumped from Late 2023 to Early 2024 Release

Horror

The hotly anticipated sequel Dune: Part Two had been scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 3, 2023, but Warner Bros. has announced that the date has changed.

Amid much speculation about whether or not Dune: Part Two would remain in 2023, we’ve learned this week that the sequel will now arrive in theaters on March 15, 2024.

Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya and Josh Brolin will return for Dune: Part Two, which is once again directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune).

Florence PughLéa Seydoux, Austin Butler, Tim Blake Nelson and Christopher Walken also star in Dune: Part Two, making for one hell of an ensemble cast.

Released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in 2021, Dune opened to $41 million domestically, ending its run with $108 million domestically and $400 million worldwide.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant. Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.

Based on Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune comes from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.
