Asheville, North Carolina, singer-songwriter MJ Lenderman is now an Anti-Records artist, and he’s shared the music video for his first single for the label, “Rudolph.” Watch the visual, directed by Jacob Pankey and Ben Surber, below.

Lenderman wrote and co-produced “Rudolph.” He also provided the song’s vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, while his Wednesday bandmate Xandy Chelmis contributed pedal steel and backup vocals. Alex Farrar co-produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered “Rudolph.” The track was recorded at Asheville’s Drop of Sun Studios.

“‘Rudolph’ was the first song I wrote after the release of Boat Songs,” Lenderman said in a statement. “I had been sitting on the guitar part for a long time and slowly worked out the song whenever I could in between tours in 2022. I finished the lyrics with my friend one late night after a Wednesday gig in Atlanta.”

MJ Lenderman is performing at the Pitchfork Music Festival on Saturday, July 22. The night before, he takes the stage at Schubas as part of Pitchfork’s After Shows series. Tickets to Pitchfork Music Festival are still available, and it’s streaming live on YouTube all weekend.
