Watch Weezer Perform an Acoustic Set at Writers Strike Picket Line

The band played “Beverly Hills,” “Island in the Sun,” and “Buddy Holly” for WGA members outside of Paramount Studios’ main entrance

Earlier today (May 17), Weezer performed an acoustic set outside of Paramount Studios’ main entrance in support of the 2023 writers strike, where unions representing thousands of film and television writers are asking for a fair contract. For their three-song set, Rivers Cuomo, guitarist Brian Bell, and bassist Scott Shriner played “Beverly Hills,” “Island in the Sun,” and “Buddy Holly” for the WGA picket line. Watch a TMZ video capturing it below.

“We wanted to try to support you guys and do something fun since you’re standing out here all day,” Shriner told someone in the crowd after their performance. When asked what their favorite TV shows or movies are, Shriner said Game of Thrones, Bell said Dave and Succession, and Cuomo said The Mandalorian.

Last year, Weezer released four EPs to represent each of the seasons. Their most recent studio album, Van Weezer, was a classic rock and hard rock-inspired record that marked their fifteenth studio LP overall. Weezer will begin their busy summer tour with Modest Mouse, Spoon, Future Islands, Momma, and other acts next month.
