‘Teen Mom’ alum Ryan Edwards threatened wife Mackenzie before arrest: police

Reality TV

“Teen Mom” alum Ryan Edwards threatened his wife, Mackenzie Edwards, before his recent arrest, according to police.

Tennessee authorities revealed in a newly released arrest affidavit that Mackenzie, 26, recorded a phone call with Ryan, 35, that she “interpreted … as a legitimate threat on her life.”

During the call, which Mackenzie has turned over to police, Ryan allegedly told his wife, “What’s about to happen to you is gonna be ugly,” per the affidavit obtained by the US Sun Monday.

Mackenzie did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Ryan was charged Friday with harassment, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and an order of protection violation.

His arrest came after he bashed Mackenzie in a since-deleted Instagram post Thursday that featured a revealing photo of the mother of two.

“If you guys have never seen a spineless slut this is one,” he captioned a picture of what appeared to be Mackenzie’s breasts covered by a leather jacket.

He then alleged, “They take your money sleep with anything that looks at them. But they must have a wife to [sic]. God what a joke. It’s sad really.”

Mackenzie went to the police Friday morning to report that her husband had posted “revealing photos of her to his Instagram account,” according to a press release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

“The photographs did not show nudity, but were revealing,” officers noted.

Mackenzie also claimed Ryan had tried to contact her father to let her know that he would be picking up his possessions from their home, which violated a protective order issued Thursday, contributing to his arrest.

Ryan shares two kids, Jagger, 4, and Stella, 3, with Mackenzie and son Bentley, 14, with ex-fiancée Maci Bookout.

Ryan and Bookout, 31, rose to fame together on MTV’s “16 & Pregnant” before starring on its spinoff, “Teen Mom,” which eventually evolved into “Teen Mom OG” and now exists as “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.”

After more than a decade on TV, Ryan was fired from the franchise in 2021 amid his battle with addiction. MTV also parted ways with Mackenzie and his parents, Larry and Jen Edwards, while Bookout retained her status as a main cast member.

Though Ryan’s relationship with his spouse seems to be in peril, Bookout exclusively told Page Six in December 2022 that she has made strides to repair her fractured co-parenting dynamic with the dad of three.

“Getting to know the hard parts of mine and Ryan’s relationship as co-parents, that makes it more comfortable for me, I would say,” she said at the time. “Not easier, but maybe just a little more comfortable.”

While the mom of three — who also shares daughter Jayde, 7, and son Maverick, 6, with husband Taylor McKinney — had hoped to facilitate more communication with Edwards, she previously expressed relief to be free of any obligations to talk on camera.

“There was no way to create room or space for us to heal or move on or get over some things because we’re constantly having to talk about each other when we don’t even talk to each other,” Bookout told Page Six last September.

“What’s the point in that? So yeah, safe to say it’s a huge relief [that he’s not on the show].”
