Eminem was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday (November 5). Dr. Dre bestowed the honor upon the rapper during the ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles.

The superstar producer joked about how surprised he was to learn that Eminem was white, and said that other people in the industry discouraged him from working with the once-unknown rapper. “I knew that his gifts were undeniable,” Dr Dre. said. “Each of us were exactly what the other one needed—and I was willing to bet my entire career on that.”

Earlier in the evening, Eminem performed alongside Steven Tyler and Ed Sheeran at the event. 2022 marked the first year that Eminem was nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, though he has attended the ceremony in the past; in 2021, he performed “Rock the Bells” with LL Cool J, and in 2009, he gave the speech inducting Run-D.M.C. into the Rock Hall.

Additional inductees this year include Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, and Pat Benatar.
