Capcom Debuts New ‘Resident Evil 4’ Gameplay Footage During ‘Resident Evil’ Showcase and More [Video]

Horror

Not to be outdone by Konami’s Silent Hill presentation yesterday, Capcom unveiled the first gameplay footage for the Resident Evil 4 remake during their Resident Evil showcase. In addition, Capcom also treated fans to a new trailer for the upcoming “Winters’ Expansion” that’s included with Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.

Along with the new trailer for Village, the showcase also had a brief interview with the expansion’s director, Kento Kinoshita, who briefly covers the story, as well as the new features included in the expansion, including the new third-person mode.

Speaking of which, Capcom has a new demo for fans to experience the first-person mode. And hey, it’s available today for PC and consoles! Keep in mind that as with Capcom’s previous Resident Evil demos, this one is restricted to 60 minutes.

Capcom also finally gave an update on Resident Evil Re:Verse. While there’s still no hard release date, players will be able to participate in an Early Access period starting October 23rd at 7pm PDT, and ending on October 25 at 11pm PDT. You’ll need Resident Evil Village in order to participate.

Switch users will be able to get Resident Evil Village Cloud Version on the same day as Resident Evil Village Gold Edition‘s release on October 28, while the Switch version of the “Winters’ Expansion” will arrive on December 2nd. Cloud Versions of the Resident Evil 2 remake, Resident Evil 3 remake and Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition also now have release dates of November 11, November 18 and December 16, respectively.

Capcom even had a treat for Mac users with the announcement that Village would be available for Mac users on October 28, with the Gold Edition arriving at a later date.

Of course, the big news is the first gameplay footage for the Resident Evil 4 remake, which arrives March 24, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The footage in question sees Leon arriving in the village, where the villagers let Leon know he’s not welcome. In addition to the footage, Capcom also revealed some new tweaks to RE4. In addition to a reimagined story, Leon has a new parry move, which will come in handy, as enemies will now grab and hold onto Leon. We also get an appearance of the beloved merchant, who will now trade players rare weapons in exchange for gems in addition to selling you items and weapons.

The Resident Evil 4 Deluxe and Collector’s Editions were also revealed, with pre-orders (and their bonuses) now live for Steam, PlayStation Store and Xbox.

Lastly, Capcom also dropped a new story trailer for Resident Evil 4, which shows off more of the new cutscenes.

Needless to say, 2023 is going to be huge for horror gamers.
