With Techland planning to release a patch of “highly requested features” for Dying Light 2 later this week, the developer decided to give an update on just where sales figures are at nearly three months after release. Not only that, but the original Dying Light has hit a significant milestone of its own.

Along with the new trailer touting Dying Light 2‘s accolades so far, Techland has announced that the game has now reached over 5 million units in sales since launch, “with the number climbing significantly in the weeks since”. As for the original Dying Light, it now stands at an astonishing 20 million lifetime sales across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.

According to Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka, the franchise’s success “is a great example of the unforgettable experiences we create for our players.” And really, this is all after Dying Light 2 was delayed several times throughout its development. Though no doubt part of the first game’s success was the team’s commitment to postlaunch content, which will continue with the sequel.

Currently, Dying Light 2 is out on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, with the Nintendo Switch version coming later this year.
