Bethenny Frankel Says “New York City Is Not Safe” After Brooklyn Subway Shooting

Reality TV

Bethenny Frankel has made it known both on and off Real Housewives of New York that she is not afraid to speak her mind. She’s no stranger to backlash, but it doesn’t really bother her. She’s a businesswoman and major philanthropist so she’s no stranger to taking charge and making her opinion loud and clear.

B tends to comment on all relevant pop culture news, whether RHONY is involved or not. But she’s also super up-to-date with current events. She has to be — her disaster relief organization BStrong helps people on the spot whenever they experience devastation. She recently decided to give her two cents about a recent tragedy in her hometown, according to Page Six.

If you haven’t heard, there was a horrific incident in Brooklyn this week when 10 people were shot in a subway station. Bethenny got on social media to express her sadness regarding the incident and make some statements about her city. “The subway situation is terrifying, and New York is not what it used to be,” she said. “New York City is not safe.”

Bethenny made her statements through the lens of being a mother. She openly admitted that she’s the “dorky parent” who doesn’t want her kid roaming around the city. “I have no choice if we’re dealing with Manhattan than to be a helicopter parent, and I choose to not be in New York City,” she added. Bethenny is apparently moving to the ‘burbs now that she’s planning to tie the knot with Paul Bernon, That essentially gives us our answer about whether or not she’ll appear in the new era of RHONY.

She concluded by explaining that she’s a proud New Yorker, but the situation is scary. “I’m sorry, safety is more important than pride of New York,” Bethenny added. There has been a wide range of responses to her rant, as is typical whenever B comments on current events. However, I think we can all agree with her that the situation is terrifying, and we should all keep the victims and their loved ones in our thoughts.

TELL US – DO YOU AGREE WITH BETHENNY’S ASSESSMENT OF NEW YORK CITY? ARE YOU SHOCKED SHE DOESN’T WANT TO LIVE IN THE CITY ANYMORE?
