No Way Home Clip of Doc Ock & Green Goblin Reunion Officially Released

Movies

The moment where Green Goblin and Doc Ock reunite in Spider-Man: No Way Home has been released as an official clip from the movie. The MCU’s third solo Spider-Man film has been out in the world for a month and a half, and it’s still drumming up a lot of excitement. At the box office, No Way Home has been dominating ticket sales; it is currently the fourth highest-grossing film of all time domestically with $727.6 million, and its performance is by far the strongest of the pandemic era.

Fueling No Way Home‘s success is its multiversal premise that brings together actors from all Spider-Man eras. The film finds Peter Parker (Tom Holland) trying to make his identity secret once again, and in doing so, he accidentally tears open the multiverse. This means past Spider-Man villains like Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) can join the multiverse and connect Sam Raimi’s early aughts trilogy to the MCU. Figures from the Amazing Spider-Man movies appear as well, and Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield put in major roles as alternate Peter Parkers.

For fans of the past Spider-Man franchises, No Way Home was the perfect blend of old and new. That can be seen in the latest official clip to be released from the film (via Spider-Man: No Way Home), which shows the moment where Green Goblin (currently in his Norman Osborne state) sees Doctor Otto Octavius for the first time. It both harkens back to the Raimi trilogy in a great way and pulls back the curtain a bit more on the villains’ place in this universe. Plus, it’s a wonderful opportunity to see Dafoe and Molina act opposite each other. Check it out below.

This scene is extra special for one key reason. In Raimi’s films, Green Goblin and Doc Ock never came face to face. However, as both Osborne and Octavius were well-known scientists, it always seemed likely that they would have been aware of each other. Though their meeting could never happen in the Raimi-verse, No Way Home was able to bring these iconic villains together. It brought an extra layer of nostalgia and emotion to a film that was already packed with excellent moments of fan service.

Thanks to Peter’s unwavering goodness, both Green Goblin and Doc Ock achieved something of a happy ending in No Way HomeNow fans are wondering if either character can return in future installments. Right now, they’ve both been restored to their proper universes, but anything can happen in the MCU. At the very least, fans can be content with the knowledge that they have finally seen Spider-Man’s best movie villains come face to face on screen, years after it should have possible.
