Queer Eye‘s Jonathan Van Ness has melted the heart of fans after revealing he’s become close friends with beloved contestant Angel Flores following her appearance on season six of the Netflix show.

The transgender powerlifter had been struggling to find herself and build her self-confidence before the Fab Five – Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Bobby Berk and Antoni Porowski – travelled to Texas in order to offer their assistance.

In a sweet Instagram post shared on Thursday (13 January), JVN shared an update about how the pair have maintained their connection ever since the cameras stopped rolling.

Alongside a series of candid pictures and videos, he wrote: “Angel appreciation post ! Angel has been training me for a few months helping me keep myself strong and along the way she’s been joining us at gymnastics!”

JVN continued: “This is a collection of a typical day at gymnastics except opening late Christmas presents and featuring the crazy gorgeous Austin sunrises and can we talk about the last slide with Angel landing a standing tuck!??

“There’s also a story of my taking such a fall and Angel always being so encouraging and lol. I love you friend and thanks so much for being you! And I’m totes fine from the fall, it’s part of being a gymnast / comedian / entertainer”.

Fans were delighted to learn that Jonathan Van Ness and the 22-year-old Olympic weightlifting coach had been spending time together as one commented: “Here for this friendship!”

“Omg this update made my day!!!!!!! Love that you’re all still in touch after the show,” another wrote, while one follower added: “As if I didn’t cry enough watching her episode!”

Another fan commented: “Gahhh! I love that y’all have become friends beyond the show. Last night while watching it for the millionth time – I said to my husband. Wow, there really is nothing like this.

“The conversations, the movements, the transformations. It’s not TV, it’s just humans helping humans – so beautiful.”

Ever since her episode aired in December, Angel has been sharing updates with viewers on social media as she continues to embrace life as a much more confident woman.

We love to see it!
