Walker Season 2 Episode 7 Synopsis Hints At Trouble For The Whole Family

Movies

Warning: Spoilers for Walker season 2.

The synopsis for Walker season 2, episode 7 teases trouble ahead for the whole family. After a twisty first season in which Jared Padalecki’s Cordell Walker was consumed with uncovering the truth of who killed his wife Emily (Genevieve Padalecki), the CW series delivered the kind of conclusion that provided some resolution but also inspired more questions. Though he finds out who fired the gunshot that killed Emily, the finale revealed that there was someone secretly watching Cordell and his family through a hidden camera. Between that and a failed assassination attempt, the Texas Ranger certainly had a lot to deal with.

Walker season 2, which debuted on The CW back in October, picks up three months after the events of the finale. Cordell has had some victories in the interim, adjusting to having life on the ranch with his family, the new episodes introduce a feud that’s reminiscent of Hatfields and McCoys – the Davidsons, who have a bad history with the Walkers, return to the vacant ranch next door and they bring with them a history of shared trauma and baggage from Cordell’s childhood. From the sounds of things, that long and bitter history is about to make things worse.

Walker season 2 went on a short hiatus with its December 9 episode. When it returns to The CW on January 13, viewers will continue to see the fallout of the bad blood between the two families. Cordell’s brother, Liam (Keegan Allen) called in a false warrant on the short-fused Dan Miller (Dave Annable), who married into the Davidson family. You can read the synopsis, via Bleeding Cool, below.

“Where Do We Go From Here”: WALKER ADJUSTS TO LIFE WITHOUT HIS PARTNER – Things are still tense between Walker (Jared Padalecki) and Liam (Keegan Allen) after Liam called in a false warrant on Dan Miller (guest star Dave Annable). However, things take a turn for the worse when Captain James (Coby Bell) informs the brothers that Serano’s (guest star Henderson Wade) lawyers are using Liam’s mistake as a way to set the criminal free, putting the entire Walker family in danger. Amyn Kaderali directed the episode written by Anna Fricke & Katherine Alyse.

As the synopsis also indicates, Walker is also dealing with the exit of Lindsey Morgan. Citing a need to step away and focus on herself, Morgan departed from her role as the co-lead of the CW series. Morgan’s character, Micki Ramirez, said farewell in an emotional episode. She ends her relationship with boyfriend Trey (Jeff Pierre), realizing that she should go back home in order to figure out what she wants for herself. Though, prior to exiting, Micki does share one last scene with Cordell.

Some fans of the original Walker, Texas Ranger, which of course starred Chuck Norris, have been critical of how showrunner Anna Fricke and her team of writers have focused more on a family saga. The original, by contrast, was famously more action-heavy. As Walker expands into a prequel, possibly growing into a franchise all its own, it’s clearly taking lessons from the megahit Yellowstone. All and all, the two dramas highlight the fact that there’s an audience for familial angst and Western-inspired settings.
