Chrishell Stause Explains Being Named In Honor Of A Gas Station Attendant

Reality TV

Chrishell Stause has defended herself a lot on Selling Sunset. As one of the few cast members that came from humble beginnings, Chrishell clawed her way onto television with lots of hard work. She talks about it in her upcoming memoir titled “Under Construction: Because Living My Best Life Took a Little Work.” In the book, she plans to discuss her childhood in Kentucky, time spent being homeless and addiction struggles within her family. Chrishell previously revealed, “I’ve had to start over so many times in my life. I always know how to look at the bright side because there’s been a lot of dark.”

Now she’s explaining a more lighthearted story in her life. As reported by Us Weekly, Chrishell was named after a gas station attendant. She was born Terrina Chrishell Stause but she’s always gone by her middle name after her mom went into labor at a Shell gas station. While the story was originally told on season 1 of Selling Sunset, it was misconstrued. Chrishell laughed, “It’s so funny. I was not born in a Shell station. I hate to disappoint people that think I was.” Chrishell clarified that her mom “made it to the hospital” in time to deliver her.

Chrishell further explained, “My mom was getting car work done, and an attendant at the station was helping her and keeping her calm. Obviously she couldn’t drive to the hospital then, so the ambulance came. But she wanted to name me after [the gas station attendant]. He worked at the Shell station, so she just thought ‘Chris, shell’ — let’s stick them together. And you know, Chrishell was born, quite literally.”

Great naming story aside, Chrishell is finally in a good place in her life. After her divorce from Justin Hartley, she’s found love again. She’s currently dating Jason Oppenheim, owner of The Oppenheim Group and oh yeah, her boss. And Jason didn’t hold back when recently talking about when talking about his new love. He revealed, “I think when [a relationship is] public, it puts a lot of just added pressures and publicity and opinion. I think it’s nice to kind of start a relationship in the way that normal relationships kind of grow and progress. And that’s just between two people.”

While the couple is happy and in love, Jason said it was Chrishell’s call to not come out with their relationship on camera until next season of Selling Sunset. Jason confirmed, “I think that we were both more comfortable with that approach, and I liked that. I followed her lead on things, and I respected her decision making on that. I think that that’s the right approach for anyone.”
