Dave Bautista Cast To Star In M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie

Dave Bautista has been cast to star in M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie, Knock at the Cabin. The WWE star turned actor is best known for portraying the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s lovably dense alien, Drax the Destroyer, making his debut in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s gone on to play him in three MCU movies since then, though Bautista has said that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will probably be the end of time as Drax.

With Bautista’s portrayal of the beloved MCU character coming to a close in 2023, he has begun to branch out with a variety of roles that showcase his subtle range as an actor. Outside of the MCU, Bautista delivered an effective performance with just one word of dialogue in the 2015 James Bond movie, Spectre, and did the same with limited screen time in two Denis Villeneuve films, Blade Runner 2049 and Dune. One of his best performances in a leading role to date came in Zack Snyder’s most recent film, Army of the Dead.

Now, per Deadline, Bautista has been cast as the lead star in Shyamalan’s next film, Knock at the Cabin. At the moment, details about the film have been kept top secret. It is known that Shyamalan will write, direct, and produce the movie as he usually does, and it will be released on February 3, 2023. Bautista is the only confirmed cast member so far.

Other than Knock at the Cabin, Bautista recently wrapped production on Knives Out 2 and is currently shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Bautista is also expected to reprise his role as Beast Rabban Harkonnen for Dune: Part Two. Following collaborations with highly esteemed filmmakers like James Gunn, Sam Mendes, Villeneuve, Snyder, and Rian Johnson, it’s an exciting prospect that Bautista will now be joining forces with one of the most famous filmmakers alive in Shyamalan.

The macabre mind that burst onto the scene in 1999 with The Sixth Sense most recently produced Old, which was an under-the-radar success at the box office this past summer. While that film featured an ensemble cast, Shyamalan’s films are generally led by big movie stars like Bruce Willis, Mark Walhberg, or James McAvoy. Given his ability to deliver unique scripts with entertaining plot twists, it’s no surprise that Bautista seized the opportunity to work with Shyamalan. While not much is currently known about Knock at the Cabin, it is clear that Bautista will likely continue to lead a fruitful film career long after his tenure in the MCU is finished.
