Tiger King Alum Carole Baskin Investigates Joe Exotic’s Old Zoo In Her New Reality Show

Reality TV

She’s back! Just when all of you cool cats and kittens thought that the Tiger King craze was dying down, here comes Carole Baskin. She’s once again inching her way back into the spotlight with a brand new show.

At this point, Tiger King feels like a very distant memory from the early days of the pandemic. Of course, many people want to leave Joe Exotic and all of those other obnoxious characters in the dark depths of 2020, but the decision-makers in Hollywood continue to serve up fresh Tiger King content left and right. So, here we are.

Although Joe Exotic is still locked away in jail, you might have heard that the second season of Tiger King is set to premiere on Netflix on November 17th. Meanwhile, Carole and her animal print outfits will be headlining a separate show for Discovery+ called Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight, and it seems to be a lot different from what we’ve seen from Tiger King.

Although Tiger King made Carole Baskin a household name, she publicly criticized the show and the way she was presented. She was less than thrilled about being depicted as a cooky villain, and she also felt that the show didn’t focus enough on the harmful exotic animal trade. So, Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight will be a bit different from the sensational “did she kill her husband” storyline that we saw in Tiger King.

They’re calling this a “docuseries,” and it will center around Carole and her efforts to investigate the treatment of big cats at Joe Exotic’s old zoo. And she’s not doing it alone. According to a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Carole will team up with Joe Exotic’s niece, Chealsi, and a retired homicide detective named Griff Garrison. They’ll investigate Joe’s old property looking for evidence of animal abuse and trafficking. The show will also follow the crew as they go after illegal zoo tours and uncover evidence of abuse at roadside zoos. In the trailer for the new show, we see Carole wearing a flower crown, looking at maps, and writing things down on a dry-erase board, so you know she means business.

In a statement about the new docuseries, Carole revealed just how high-stakes her mission is. She said, “This is a unique opportunity for audiences to come behind the scenes with us for an unfiltered look at how we expose the cub-petting exploiters and roadside zoos we feel are mistreating animals. This is our real-life work within a dangerous world, and viewers will see it comes with our people being threatened, guns pointed at us and the bad guys shooting at our drones.”

Anytime you hear someone unironically use the phrase “the bad guys,” you know you’re going to be in for something wild. Carole’s new series premieres November 13th on Discovery+, so we’ll have plenty of Tiger King content to keep us entertained this fall.
