THE ENCOURAGED NAOMI SKY

Fashion, Music, News

What is the most daring part about releasing new music?

I think the most daring part is sharing your heart and soul with the world. Music is so subjective, so sharing anything creative and personal is a risk. It’s also the most cathartic experience!

Being a singer/ songwriter, what is a learning curve you had to learn about the two?

I learned that it’s okay to have songs that complement my singing abilities, like vocal range, and it’s okay to have other songs that complement my songwriting skills, like intimate lyrics or a catchy melody. Ideally, every song has elements that complement the roles I play as both a singer and a songwriter. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is that my art feels like it’s contributing to the bigger picture in some way, feels like something others can connect to, and also feels therapeutic.

Heart On My Sleeve is approaching, give us a little hint about the single?

Yes, “Heart on My Sleeve” is officially out on all streaming platforms now! It’s all about the fear I felt when I first started sharing my emotions with my family and best friends. We all go through different life experiences, so vulnerability may feel more challenging to some people than it does to others. It’s always exciting to hear about or watch a loved one grow, so I hope this song fills people with a little hope for the future.

Pushing yourself to keep making music, is this hard or does it seem as seamless as you make it appear!

The past 3 songs I’ve released are part of a full album that focuses on vulnerability, and I think having a theme has really encouraged me to keep releasing music. Every release feels like the next chapter of this story I’m telling, so even though there are some challenges, it’s an exciting process to release new music!

What do you want to focus more on with your music?

The past 3 singles I’ve released have been upbeat or optimistic takes on life, so I’m looking forward to showing people a couple songs that deal with different emotions like anxiety, guilt, and sadness.
