Mia Thornton Won’t Be In The Same Room As Candiace Dillard; Says Candiace’s Homophobic Tweets Are “Not Cute And Offensive”

Reality TV

Mia Thornton may be a newbie on Real Housewives of Potomac, but she came to play. Mia openly admitted to all her plastic surgery procedures from day one. Her husband, Gordon Thornton, is 32 years her senior, and the couple has two children together.

Mia’s relationship with co-star Candiace Dillard has just hit the skids. During the most recent episode of RHOP, Candiace shot her video for the song “Drive Back.” All the cast were extras, except for Ashley Darby.  Messy Mia took a moment to ask Candiace’s Mama, Dorothy Dillard, if Candiace’s “husbandger” Chris Bassett was getting paid. When Candiace heard about it, she was pissed.

Candiace was angry at Ashley for dropping in during the Williamsburg trip to talk to Wendy Osefo. Wendy denied that her husband, Eddie Osefo, was cheating on her. Ashley ignited the Wendy bomb and left.

Candiace later taunted Ashley, saying that she and her “wide bodied ass” tried to ruin the trip. Ashley had just given birth to her second son. Candiace issued a half-assed apology.

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen called Candiace out for body-shaming Ashley. “All body shaming, for whatever reason, Candiace is the only one who gets nailed to the cross, let’s work on that,” the singer stated. Oof.

Mia didn’t approve of Candiace’s comments about Ashley. At all. “I don’t care how much hurt or pain this person inflicted on me, wide-bodied to me…you know, we as women have so many insecurities. And those things that we trap inside, they hurt us to the core,” Mia stated. “For another female that we feel is in our friend group, to say we have a wide body, I thought that was the lowest of the low.” Body-shaming is never okay.

Now Mia is reacting to some homophobic comments that Candiace tweeted in 2010-2011. Those tweets have been deleted. “Queenie gay men irk me,” Candiace tweeted. “I’m personally turned off by men who r too into fashion. It’s a fine line,” Candiace wrote in another tweet. “When u do too much, I’m disgusted. Makes me think ‘gay.’”

The RHOP star also copied a tweet that read, “If you wanna be or are gay then do you. But wtf is up wit dudes wanting to be women?” Candiace wrote, “Agreed.” These are disgusting.

In August of 2020, Candiace hit up Twitter to apologize. She wrote, “I want to address tweets that resurfaced from nearly 10 years ago that may have offended people I love dearly and those who have supported me as a Potomac Housewife. To my loyal fanbase, particularly the LGBTQIA+ viewers, thank you for your unwavering support,” Candiace said. “I love you.” Really, Candiace?

“I, alone, am responsible for my words and I deeply regret saying anything that could have hurt my friends, colleagues, family and fans,” Candiace remarked. “At the same time I was a private citizen, speaking carelessly and crassly as we often do, and for my lack of better judgment, I am sorry.” She added, “I am truly sorry for my comments, and I only ask for patience and understanding as I strive to evolve as a person.” Candiace really is a nightmare on Twittter-then and now.

The bravoshaderoom shared a screenshot to their Instagram page of a fan and Mia discussing Candiace’s old tweets. A user wrote of Candiace, “Between her petulant child personality, body shaming, anti-homosexual and anti-trans comments, she needs to be fired by @bravotv @bravoandy.”

Mia slammed Candiace in the comments section. “AGREED,” Mia wrote. “I won’t be seen in the same room with her for sure. It’s not cute and offensive to the masses,” Mia stated. “Wrong game. #lgbtq community I STAN.”
