Captain Lee Rosbach Reacts To Below Deck’s First Emmy Nomination

Reality TV

For everyone rebuking The Real Housewives lately, there is still plenty of reality TV hope on the horizon. Shockingly, I’ve always preferred the shows that keep the reality content as close to “real” as possible. That tends to include a cast that is working. Like, really working. I’m talking Vanderpump Rules (back in the day), F Boy Island (Garrett Morosky knew the assignment), and Below Deck. Below Deck stands out double. That’s because while the stews and deck crew are getting run ragged, there’s the glaring dichotomy of wealth and privilege on the aft.

If you’re someone who only watches one of the BD franchises, I beg you not to sleep on the others. Below Deck Mediterranean  is having a particularly stand out year. Season two of Below Deck Sailing Yacht brought it too! Let the count down to Captain Lee Rosbach and friends begin! The Below Deck season nine premiere date of Monday, October 25th cannot come soon enough!

Not only am *I* a major fan of the Below Deck series, it seems the Emmys have caught on as well! Below Deck is nominated for both Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program at the 2021 Emmy Awards! The award show will take place Sunday, Sept. 19. Fingers crossed for our favorite yachties!

In an interview with E! NewsCaptain Lee shared how he’s taken in the “pinch me” moment. He announced, “I’ve never—I still don’t, and I try to avoid it as much as possible—I don’t consider myself a celebrity”

“I’m a captain that does this job, I just happen to get filmed while doing it. I try to stay away from the Kool-Aid bowl as much as possible, and when I heard about that and when I heard that we were up for a couple of Emmys, it was like, I don’t know, it’s kind of like the first time somebody recognized me from the show,” Lee explained.

Captain Lee also joked, “I kept turning around, looking behind me, thinking there was someone behind me because they were staring at me and that’s the way the Emmy thing is like. Did I read that right? Is that really us?” He noted, “You dream, until it happens, it’s just a little overwhelming.”

As far as what’s to come if the crew really does win an Emmy? Captain Lee revealed, “I don’t know, I haven’t thought that far ahead. I don’t want to be presumptuous. I’d probably just sit and look at it and go off for long periods of time, just keep touching it and making sure it was real, making sure nobody is trying to take it back or something.”
