Mary Cosby was introduced to Bravo fans in November 2020 with the premiere of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., is a pastor in the Pentecostal Church, and also her deceased grandmother’s second spouse. It took awhile for the other cast members to process that lineage, but Mary tended to focus on being “a Pentecostal First Lady.”
As quirky as Mary (and her closet) is, the rest of the cast adored her. She, Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, and Heather Gay got along well all season. The odd one out in this group was clearly Jen Shah, with whom Mary often feuded. Whatever deep history there is between Mary and the alleged maven of telemarketing scams, at least now they have something in common, an allegation of wrong-doing by law enforcement.
E! News reported that Mary, “was recently charged with unlawfully providing shelter to a runaway and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.” The alleged offenses are said to have occurred on April 8, 2021, but law enforcement has not disclosed any further details.
Mary had her day in court on June 28th. And unlike her Gucci-wearing nemesis Jen, remained subdued and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges. The next step in the process is a pre-trial conference. Mary has been ordered to appear in court on August 12. Currently, it’s reported that she has not hired a lawyer.
As for the personal fallout of this event, a rep for the RHOSLC star revealed that, “Mary is saddened that she was dragged into another family’s domestic situation. But is confident that this misunderstanding will be cleared up soon.”

It was immensely fortunate for Bravo fans that production caught Jen’s arrest on camera. There is no indication that the same holds true for Mary’s situation, although a getaway attempt and dramatic arrest was not needed in this case.
As invasive as reality TV production can be to the life of a cast member, there’s no telling what goes on within a household 24/7. It’s easy to speculate that Mary could have unwittingly walked into this situation by trying to help a family member. Or perhaps she felt an obligation, as an religious authority, to help a person in need. Whatever the truth is, it remains to be straightened out in a court of law.
