Jill Zarin Says Real Housewives Of New York Has Bad Ratings Because No One Is Married

Real Housewives of New York has been under plenty of scrutiny this season. It’s not looking good. With the exit of Dorinda Medley and Tinsley Mortimer, there was plenty of speculation about how the new cast would work. Leah McSweeney was added last year, bringing some chaotic energy youth into the mix. And Eboni K. Williams was added, becoming the first Black housewife to join the franchise.

But Eboni has had a lot of hate for her role on the show, with fans calling her too “preachy.” It’s no surprise that educating OG housewives like Ramona Singer and Luann de Lesseps might be a tall order. And Eboni is taking the hate in stride, refusing to apologize for who she is. Aside from Eboni, Leah has also been blamed for “ruining” the franchise.

But blast-from-the-past housewife Jill Zarin seems to think that neither women are to blame for the show’s sinking ratings. Her take on it? There aren’t any actual housewives. As reported by All About The Real Housewives, Jill recently went on her sister’s podcast, The Lisa Wexler Show to discuss her thoughts.

According to Jill,“I think the biggest problem with the show, which nobody talks about, is it’s called The Real Housewives of New York. There isn’t one housewife. And there’s not one boyfriend. And I think the lack of male energy on the show is the problem.”

She continued, “It’s a lack of male energy. I think that in a lot of ways is the success of the Real Housewives brand as a whole [is the husbands]. When Bethenny [Frankel] told Luann that [Tom D’Agostino] cheated on her, which ultimately ended in her divorce, again, it was a man. If you really think about the stuff. Ramona getting divorced from [Mario Singer]. The first few seasons of New York was so great because of [Simon van Kempen] and his red leather pants.”

Jill concluded, “We are missing men. The most important thing that they did was hire someone, Black. They should have made her married with kids.”

Ok, well Jill, despite being irrelevant for many years, has spoken. Don’t get me wrong, Jill will always be an OG of the franchise. But she hasn’t had anything to do with it for many years. And while her heyday was full of actual wives on the show, things have changed and she has to account for that. Granted, it would be nice to see a marriage on the show, but I’m not sure how that would fit into the current dynamic. Is there anything really wrong with watching a bunch of successful single women carry their own show?
