Kathy Hilton, and her wacky sense of humor, is the gift that keeps on giving on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Kathy read a newspaper and drank Red Bull in the middle of the night while in bed with her sister, Kyle Richards.
She pulled off a legendary martini “bottoms up” prank that left RHOBH co-star Sutton Stracke feeling left out. It was epic.
Kim Richards was a cast member on the franchise during its early seasons, and her struggle to maintain her sobriety was a major story line for her sister, Kyle. Kim also claimed that Kyle stole her house. Kim was supposed to inherit their parents Los Angeles home, but it went to Kyle instead. Kathy stopped watching RHOBH after the big limo blow-up between her sisters during the first season. When Kathy accepted the position on RHOBH, Kim was the first phone call that she made. Fun fact: Kim’s tell-all book is apparently coming out after all. I have a feeling that Kathy and Kyle had better buckle up.
But there have been rough patches in Kyle and Kathy’s relationship, too. Kathy’s husband, Rick Hilton, didn’t make Kyle’s spouse, Mauricio Umansky, a partner in his real estate firm. Mauricio left and founded The Agency. It was alleged that Mauricio lured away some clients and agents from Rick’s firm, which caused some bad blood. Kathy even uninvited Kyle from her daughter, Nicky Hilton’s, wedding. Kyle was re-invited and did attend.
Kathy and Kim were also pissed when Kyle created the television series, American Woman. It was supposedly “loosely based” on Kyle’s childhood and growing up. Is it possible that there are more skeletons hiding in this trio’s closets?
Kathy spoke to Variety about her relationship with Kyle, and how being on RHOBH has affected it. “Kyle and I have had our ups and downs, and if my mom was still here, it never would’ve happened. We wouldn’t have fallen out,” Kathy explained.

“It was frustrating because I think I could’ve had a platform if I wanted one, but I chose to keep silent. We started to put the pieces back together a couple years ago.” I had no idea that the sisters had been on the outs for so long. “I had a little birthday dinner for her here at the house. I started to see what I was missing out on with my nieces. Nothing should ever come between sisters,” Kathy stated. “It was heartbreaking to me, and my husband could see that.”
She continued, “So, when the producer [Alex Baskin] asked me to do the show, he would not let up. My family knew how much I was hurting and wanting to spend more time with Kyle.” The vibe between Kathy and Kyle is light and refreshing on the show.

“Well, guess what? Kyle is filming this show for five, six months a year. Paris [Hilton] has seen the show and paid me some compliments and sent me some memes,” Kathy added. I guess that translates to some high praise from her daughter, Paris.
So, will we ever see Kathy holding her own diamond? “You know I never say ‘never.’ I’ve learned that,” she stated. “I really don’t think so because I’m working on a lot of things right now. And I have a pretty full plate.”
