Luann de Lesseps Wants Vanessa Williams Candace Bushnell, And Lynda Carter To Join Real Housewives Of New York

Luann de Lesseps

Cast changes are rarely ever smooth. Viewers get used to seeing the same dynamic and change is hard. Even when it’s necessary. Such is the case with Real Housewives of New York. One time fan favorite Dorinda Medley finally overstayed her welcome and was let go from the franchise. Tinsley Mortimer also made an exit to chase love in Chicago with now ex-fiance, Scott Kluth. I’m hoping her breakup leaves the door open for her to return but there are no guarantees.

In their absence, Leah McSweeney joined the cast as a younger, fresher, face. And I’m not age shaming – it’s just a fact that she’s much younger than the current cast she was thrown into. But it worked. She brought some fireworks and also blended in seamlessly. Another excellent addition was the first Black cast member for RHONY, Eboni K. Williams. I’m loving her and everything she’s bringing. She’s holding Ramona Singer accountable for her nonsense and she’s proved to hold her own against Luann de Lesseps.

But Luann has her sights on other possible cast members that she would like to join the franchise. On a recent podcast episode of Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef, Luann revealed who she would love to join the franchise.

According to Luann, she would love to see Candace Bushnell, the creator of Sex and The City. She said, “I’d love to see Candace because Candace is a friend of mine and she’s fabulous.” As someone who ate up SATC in the 2000s, I would personally love to see this as well. I want to know all about the creator of Mr. Big and Carrie. How she lives, what she’s up to. Maybe she would even talk about SATC. I get chills just thinking about it!

Luann also suggested Vanessa Williams. Vanessa is best known as the first Black Miss America, a title she won in 1984. She ended up resigning over a nude photo scandal but she’s done anything but fade into obscurity since then. She’s an accomplished actress and also happened to sing one of my all time favorite Disney movies songs. I blasted “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas on repeat as a kid. For that, Vanessa is my Disney Queen!

Luann said of Vanessa, “Vanessa Williams would be cool. She’s lovely, by the way. I’ve met her before and she’s lovely, gorgeous, and smart.” I totally concur with this assessment. Vanessa is a class act. And aside from the likes of Lisa Rinna, I love the idea of a successful actress joining the show. She could definitely give the cast a run for their money.

Finally, Luann suggested Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman herself. O-M-G I am the ultimate fangirl for Wonder Woman. I loved watching her kick ass as a kid and I would kill to see Lynda all grown up! Luann proposed, “What about Wonder Woman? What about Lynda Carter? Wouldn’t she be great?” Yes, it absolutely would be great.

I know I’m showing my age but I love all these suggestions. The nostalgia is thick. And I can’t think of anything wrong with any of these possibilities. I also wouldn’t mind seeing another cast shake up. Not sure if the producers will listen to Luann but I am anxiously waiting to find out.
