Horror hack ’em up Dead by Daylight is celebrating Pride with new items – including a rainbow charm

This crazed murderer is looking very snazzy with his Pride charm.

You can celebrate Pride in Dead by Daylight in June with new content, as well as a livestreamed charity fundraiser.

The multiplayer horror game is hugely popular among the LGBT+ community – especially drag streamers – so Pride season is an opportunity for developer Behaviour Interactive to give something back.

“Diversity is something that means a lot to us here at Dead by Daylight. Both in terms of our team, and our incredibly supportive fans who identify as members of the LGBTQIA2+ community,” they said in a blog post.

“This time of year is a chance for us to double down on celebrating our differences, the things that make us all unique, and to send the same dedication, support and love you’ve shown us right back your way.”

New characters are on the way to the game, but the developer wants to ensure positive representation and inclusion. They’re working with Brian Kunde and Katie Kaitchuck at GaymerX on LGBT+ representation in-game.

“Our goal is to take the necessary time to ensure we get this right, creating the kinds of stories and characters devoid of negative tropes that our community deserves, versus simply checking a box,” says the blog.

In the meantime, a Rainbow Flag Charm will be available for free for any Survivors or Killers to wear with pride. That’s in addition to Pride emotes to use on Twitch and in Discord.

To celebrate the diverse playerbase, an #IntoTheRainbow Influencer Livestream will take place on 18 June to showcase the connection between Dead by Daylight and queer identities. It will be streamed on Twitch here.

What’s more, during the livestream there will be a fundraiser for The Trevor Project, the charity supporting LGBT+ youth. Behaviour will also be making a donation to Project10, a Quebec LGBT+ charity local to the developer.

You can also look forward to a future blog and artwork asking the question: What drew you to DbD as a queer person?

With such a strong queer playerbase, it’s great to see Behaviour supporting the community.

This news comes just after the launch of the Dead by Daylight and Resident Evil crossover that’s adding new characters from Capcom’s horror series.
