Sutton Stracke Apologizes For Disrespecting Crystal Kung Minkoff

Reality TV

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are back and already feuding during the second episode of the season. The ladies went to Lake Tahoe to hang out in a beautiful mansion with plenty of snacks for Kathy HiltonGarcelle Beauvais continued to let Lisa Rinna know she’s not letting her off the hook for her total betrayal of Denise Richards. It was hyped up that Erika Jayne would reveal something related to her sham divorce and ongoing legal issues. But, as usual, she was bland, vague and disappointing. Maybe she knows the feds are watching.

Kathy was the true star of the show, asking to put mouthwash in a flask and taunting her sister Kyle Richards by calling her Doogie. That’s total payback for Kyle calling Denise a raggamuffin. And the episode ended with the newest diamond holders Sutton Stracke and Crystal Kung Minkoff going head-to-head after hours.

Kyle was speaking to the newbies about her talk with Garcelle about the charity auction drama. Kyle was actually a good listener for once and seemed to have learned something from Garcelle speaking about her experience as a black woman. Crystal began talking about stereotypes that people of Asian descent deal with. And Sutton weirdly cut her off saying they weren’t “doing that” or talking about racial stereotypes. Like Crystal said, it’s easy for Sutton to say as a white woman of privilege. It ended with Crystal asking Sutton if she was one of those girls that “doesn’t see color.” The claws are out and we know this fight is far from over.

Sutton has been polarizing since she joined RHOBH as a friend-of last season. But this year, fans have been rooting for her as she’s rumored to be the only one to take on Erika Girardi about her legal issues. The fight with Crystal was messy and unnecessary, it could have easily been avoided if Sutton just sat and listened like Kyle did. The Southern Belle apparently also didn’t like the way it looked on TV, and wrote an apology on Instagram.

“Despite Crystal and my strained relationship at the time, it was disrespectful to interrupt her and not listen to her express her truth. My life is blessed by the diversity of my relationships and I am committed to become a better listener to understand the painful realities experienced by people of color. I am sorry. I will do better and be better,” the caption read.

As of the time of writing this, Kyle is the only cast member to interact with the post with a “like.” It’s unclear how Crystal will respond, but she admitted it herself she’s one to hold grudges. And after she was dismissed in such an uncalled-for way, you can’t blame her for keeping Sutton at arms-length for a while.

It’s good to see Sutton take accountability for doing wrong and pledging to try to do better. Frankly, it was necessary after the performance she gave Wednesday night. Some of the other housewives, *eh hem* Kameron Westcott and family, could take a cue from this.
