Marvel Comics has revealed that the Black Cat will be joined by Marvel’s hottest new heroine, Star, in the upcoming ‘Infinity Score’ story line. This arc will be the conclusion of Marvel’s crossover event, Infinite Destinies, which takes place over eight annual issues as heroes track down the whereabouts of all of the Infinity Stones. Infinity Score will begin with the upcoming Black Cat #8, in which Felicia Hardy attempts to gain the Infinity Gauntlet and collect the powerful Infinity Stones. According to the details released by Marvel, this is not her idea, as she has been hired by an unknown client to complete the job.

Star first joined the Marvel Comics Universe in the pages of Kelly Thompson, Carmen Carnero, and Tamra Bonvillain’s Captain Marvel #8, when reporter Ripley Ryan transforms into Star after volunteering to be experimented on and ends up stealing Carol’s powers with a virus. Star rises in popularity as Captain Marvel does the opposite, until Carol puts two and two together and realizes what has been happening to her. Star ends up in the Raft, and ultimately bonds with the Reality Stone, giving her reality-warping powers. It can be assumed that Star joins Black Cat in Infinity Score when Felicia discovers she is the wielder of one of the stones, which sought human hosts after Marvel’s Infinity Wars event.
Marvel’s solicit information for Black Cat #9 reveals Black Cat will clash with Star, even though she may not know the Infinity Stones are actual people at this point. Star has proven to be a formidable force, demonstrating high-level powers during King in Black: Thunderbolts, so even though the Black Cat has some skills of her own, this is sure to be quite the showdown if they go toe to toe. The issue will come from writer Jed MacKay and artist C.F Villa, with an awesome cover from Pepe Larraz.

Seeing as Felicia is Marvel’s greatest thief, it was a smart move to hire her for a job like this, however with Nick Fury on her tail, it won’t exactly be easy. There is a long list of villains who want to wield infinite power with the gauntlet and all of the Infinity Stones, for a multitude of reasons, and it sounds like Marvel is going to give readers at least a hint as to who is behind all of this in the upcoming issue. One thing is for sure; they probably don’t have the best of intentions.
Felicia certainly has her work cut out for her, but if anyone can pull off a deadly heist like this one, it is her. Readers will be able to see what happens when she comes face to face with the Reality Stone and Marvel antihero Star, when Black Cat #9 hits shelves and online stores August 18.
