Logic and Madlib have formed a new duo project, MadGic. Last night, they released a new joint single called “Mars Only pt. 3.” It’s one of the first new songs from Logic since the end of the Maryland rapper’s previously announced “retirement;” he returned with the brief single “Tired in Malibu” earlier this month. The song’s lyrics allude to the existence of an entire full-length MadGic album: “Logic and Madlib is MadGic, your catalogue tragic/Fuck a underground, fuck a pop sound/Made this whole album in a lockdown, hip hop is our town.” Logic previously discussed the possibility of working with Madlib during an interview with The Needle Drop last fall.

Logic’s most recent album, No Pressure, was released last year. Madlib’s Sound Ancestors, made in collaboration with Kieran Hebden of Four Tet, was released in February.
