RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall is taking the time to look back at some of her most iconic runway looks ahead of the season 13 finale. The Milwaukee-based drag queen won Drag Race season 12, which aired at the height of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. She entered the werk room as a pageant queen, but quickly proved that she could do it all. Also referred to as “the essence of beauty,” Jaida beat out the tough competitors like Crystal Methyd and Gigi Goode during the show’s first virtual finale.
Jaida experienced a different experience than most other RuPaul’s Drag Race winners go on to have after their respective seasons end. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented the drag performer from being able to book gigs. While it is true that being the current reigning winner of Drag Race puts you in high demand in queer spaces, Jaida wasn’t afforded the same opportunities. Alas, Jaida has looked on the bright side despite those odds. Now, she continued to spread positivity by taking a nice moment to reflect on her runways.

Jaida Essence Hall is known as a talented seamstress who made all of the looks herself for the show. There were only two exceptions, which Jaida credited to Lyn Kream Designs. “It [is] like seeing photographic art of art I created on art I create (my drag persona)” wrote Jaida in an Instagram post (seen below). The pictures included her stunning entrance look, the gorgeous yellow tulle dress, and her iconic stars and stripes moment. Jaida also praised the photographer of the pictures, Adam Ouahmane. “Thank you Adam for taking time and making me feel absolutely beautiful because I really did under your lens.” The pageant vet shared a fun behind-the-scenes fact from the photoshoot citing that they unexpectedly shot most of them in one day.
Several former contestants from the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise praised Jaida Essence Hall on Instagram by leaving positive comments. “Simply Flawless” wrote All Stars 3 queen Morgan McMichaels. Season 3 winner Raja commented a sling of heart emojis, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant Sister Sister said “Unreal.” Brooke Lynn Hytes, who is a judge of Canada’s Drag Race, declared that Jaida was pure excellence. Jaida Essence Hall will pass down the crown during the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13. Getting a flashback of the legend turning looks only adds to the anticipation of seeing what she will wear as she gives her title to the lucky new queen. The queens competing for the season 13 crown are Gottmik, Symone, Rosé, and Kandy Muse.
