For his new single, Houston based Rapper, Bing, has telegraphed the notorious Texas Summers. “Heat” is a high energy track that comes in a with a roar, and never really relents. It’s got a massive and head bobbing chorus that kicks things into motion and you will most likely get it stuck in your head. The intro is attention grabbing as well, and Bing certainly brings it from his first delivery of the chorus. “Heat,” has all the ingredients for a satisfying Hip Hop dish, and offers just enough in the way of shock value to keep the most hardcore aficionados, invested.
Houston is a hot bed for live music. Most people associate Austin with a burgeoning music scene, which is an accurate perception. However, Houston is a larger city, and it has a strong artistic underbelly, that is populated with rabidly supportive and somewhat insular personalities. It’s hard to say that Houston has a music scene that is slept on, but it is definitely dense with a variety of styles. Houston’s Hip Hop scene is among one of the most well represented, and Bing is a part of that contingent.
Bing comes across as humble and low key. He claims to have only a small following, which indicates modesty. On “Heat,” though, you can hear the passion he has for his music, and you also get a glimpse at some of the more animated and aggressive aspects of his personality. At times, he can be boastful or even confrontational, but it generally comes across as mandatory menace. He has a distinct delivery, that can at times be considered a little lagging, but it also helps define him to some extent.

Bing doesn’t have an extensive body of work, prior to “Heat.” His social media presence seems to be a little light as well. At the moment, it seems that social media interaction and popularity is the most consenting measure of relevance. What is sacrificed as a result of that is mystique and intrigue. So you could argue that being under the radar, so to speak, actually benefits someone like Bing in certain ways.
Evil grin/chin checkin/with a thin chin. That’s one of the better examples of Bing’s lyrical prowess. He could use a little work with his enunciation, but again, he has a certain style that is specific to him. Once his verbal lexicon expands, he can tailor that to his tendencies and create something memorable and perhaps a bit more immediate. Not to say that with “Heat,” Bing hasn’t created something memorable, as the track has several components that allow it to stand out.
Will you want to hear more from Bing after listening to “Heat?” I believe the answer is yes, at least in speaking for myself. As previously established, the chorus is undeniable on the track, and it will almost assuredly grab anyone’s attention. The chorus of any song is a major part of the battle, and Bing has that battle, soundly won. All that’s left to do for Bing now, is to keep bringing the heat.
