Exclusive Interview with Kathryn Shipley

Celebrity, News

Hi, Kathryn! Thanks for being here!

Hey, a pleasure to be talking with you today, thanks so much for having me!

What is your writing process like?

A lot of my collaborations have come from amazing songwriters- I do write and have written some originals as well as collaborating with other songwriters/singers. Something I really want to throw myself into more is writing. I have a lot to write about lately.

What is the most adventurous thing you have done in your life?

Probably hiking with my youngest son, I had never done that before, we went to a spot in Arizona (very elevated!) and it was just breathtaking I could live there forever!

If you could switch lives with one person for a day who would it be?

Actually with one of my children to see what they must deal with in today’s world on any given day, specifically either one of my sons, I really would like to know. I say often lately I wonder how they feel or what they endure that me or their father are unaware of… crazy world. So really my children, hey they are my stars in life!

What is one city you have always dreamed of traveling to?

I really want to go to Utah and hike with my youngest son, I have never been there and one of my best friends in the music industry lives there… time for another adventure!

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?

Oh my gosh, I was the class clown as far back as I can remember… I ALWAYS wanted to be a comedian. Even in college I came home one year and went to this comedy club and on a dare, I got up there and was rather good until a lady wanted to break my knees for making fun of her. Well, she was in the front row trying to heckle me so what do comedians do, they make them a part of their routine. Looking back it is not a nice thing to do, but me at 20… well….

If you could do a cameo in any TV series, which series would you choose?

I was a home improvement junkie, loved me some Tim Allen so If I could have hung out there all would have been great for me!

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

That my music touched them, and they shared it with others, and it inspired them, or they felt compelled they needed to go do something good for someone. Those are the best because you know you are doing something right.

What makes you smile the most?

Making people happy with music… so many things make me smile such as my sons and my granddaughter… so much joy. I have pain but they help me get through it.

When have you felt genuinely starstruck?

Honestly never… I mean I get excited if I were to see someone outside of the norm, If I were backstage with Dave Matthews yeah, I would get excited… starstruck… no… big fan of that guy! I remember many years ago I was in LA at a Clippers game and saw all these celebrities. It was like okay cool; I just do not get like that.
