A dad covered his entire garden with Pride flags in a show of solidarity with his 73-year-old neighbour who just came out as gay to an unsupportive family.

The video was posted by TikTok user @fitxander, a gay personal trainer who became a TikTok star along with his lesbian sister Claire, also a personal trainer.

According to Xander’s TikTok, until recently their dad was an ardent Trump supporter despite having exclusively LGBT+ children.

However, when their mother passed away suddenly last year, “it changed everything”.

Xander wrote in a TikTok: “He began asking how he could support the LGBT+ community. He even helped his friend come out as trans aged 70… He no longer likes Trump.”

“Since mum died dad has gone from being a Trump-supporter to a full-on LGBT+ advocate,” he wrote in another post which showed his dad on a scooter wearing a rainbow headband.

“At least 2020 wasn’t all bad.”

In a recent post, Xander revealed that his dad’s 73-year-old neighbour had come out as gay.

“His family aren’t supportive,” the TikTok star wrote. “So dad did this to show him he is not alone.”

The video shows his dad draping Pride flags all over his garden and even sticking them into hedges.

A follow-up TikTok showed that every day since then, his dad has put up a Pride flag in the garden.

When his dad began receiving “hate” from neighbours for putting up the single Pride flag in his hedge each day, he felt “silenced” and covered his whole house in rainbow and trans Pride flags.

“So proud,” wrote Xander.
