Warzone Now ‘Unplayable’ Thanks To Overpowered DMR From Cold War

The new DMR weapon recently added to Call of Duty: Warzone, coming from the somewhat divisive Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, is prompting players to deem the popular battle royale “unplayable.” Since the free-to-play game’s integration with the latest mainline installment, the new influx of unwelcome guns has so far had the biggest impact on player enjoyment.

When the announcement of the new season came around on December 16, fans were excited for the integration of Warzone and the new COD game, but soon after many people started to experience glitches and bugs that began to ruin the game. In perhaps the worst example of Warzone‘s balance going out the window recently, a game-ruining invisibility glitch rendered exploiting players impossible to see and became the go-to strategy for easy wins for a time. As developers had to entirely remove the helicopters from the game to fix this glitch, some are calling for the DMR’s complete removal to rectify this latest situation.

On social media, users have taken notice that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s DMR is far too overpowered for a game that relies more heavily on balanced gameplay like Call of Duty: Warzone. Calling it the “worst meta gun that’s [ever] been in this game,” Redditor Jackfitz88‘s conclusion that the DMR makes the battle royale “unplayable” is a sentiment that many seem to agree with. Many other Reddit users have taken to the game’s dedicated r/CODWarzone subreddit to share their own variably frustrating (or frustratingly easy) experiences and videos, and the evidence below makes it clear why players are calling for the Call of Duty: Warzone arsenal to be considerably rebalanced:

The two guns have been an issue in other game modes besides the basic Verdansk map on Warzone. On Rebirth Island, Call of Duty: Warzone latest mapmost players reportedly use the DMR and the Mac-10, creating an even more hectic scenario on the small map than the developers likely intended. Now, with most players beginning to use the gun, who knows exactly how long fans are going to stick around and continue playing if they are killed so quickly and easily, even with armor on.

However, it’s not like Call of Duty: Warzone isn’t a popular game anymore. After all, it was a driving reason behind why more fans of the series were still playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare over Black Ops Cold War last month before the new game’s integration. A nerf is sure to come soon to calm player anger, but the issue remains that stuffing two games’ worth of guns into a single battle royale will inevitably make balancing issues more difficult than ever to manage for the developers.
