Season 5 of Real Housewives of Potomac was on fire. Much of the season was driven by the ugly physical confrontation between Candiace Dillard and Monique Samuels.
The incident occurred at a RHOP party in October of 2019 while the cameras were rolling. After the fight, Monique and Candiace slapped each other with second-degree assault charges. In December of 2019, both charges were dismissed.
Monique’s co-star and bestie Ashley Darby stayed loyal to Team Monique. Gizelle Bryant, Wendy Osefo and Robyn Dixon sided with Candiace. Karen Huger tried to be Switzerland, but Candiace felt betrayed by the Grand Dame.
Gizelle and the man who lives in her phone, Pastor Jamal Bryant, were another hot topic this season. That’s right–Gizelle is back with her ex-husband that cheated and allegedly fathered a child with a member of his church.
Gizelle told her fellow Housewives that everything is great with Jamal. Their relationship is long-distance, but Gizelle’s co-stars wondered why she never brought Jamal around.Word on the street is that Gizelle wants to walk down the aisle with Jamal again. Hopefully, she will have someone style her on her big day. Fashion is not Gizelle’s strong suit.

Karen thinks that Gizelle is living a “whole fake life.” Apparently, Monique agrees. At the reunion, Monique took out her binder of receipts and read Gizelle from A to Z. Monique had text messages allegedly proving that Jamal was with another woman, and that Jamal claimed that his relationship with Gizelle was a sham for television. Then Monique read out the good Pastor’s phone number. A shell-shocked Gizelle confirmed that those were Jamal’s digits. Awkward!
Candiace came for Monique and blasted her for sharing sensitive information that was none of her business. Isn’t that what Gizelle does daily?
In an interview with Page Six, Candiace sounded off on Monique’s reunion behavior. “I wasn’t so much defending Gizelle as defending what was right. What was being done, what was being said by Monique was just below the belt,” Candiace stated.

“It was a new low for all of us. I would even go so far as to say for the franchise.” Well, there have been a lot of lows at Housewives reunions.
“It was a general disgust with what she did,” Candiace remarked. “How are you able to sleep at night thinking and behaving this way?”
She continued, “Are you proud that you spent God knows how many hours using your husband’s printer and ink to put this book together? It was a new low for us,” the singer added.
Candiace also had some thoughts about who deserves to be a part of RHOP next season. Spoiler alert–Monique isn’t on the list.

Candiace stated, “The show has just become a vat of toxicity, and I won’t blame it all on her, because we all play a part…but if you look at the grand scheme of things, Monique is the toxic piece of this puzzle, and I don’t see a path forward for her with the majority of this cast,” Candiace explained.
“I don’t think that based on her unethical behavior and violent behavior that she deserves this platform anymore.”
