Two games from the Dragon Quest series - Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition and Dragon Quest Builders 2 – have recently dropped in price in a permanent reduction on the Nintendo Switch. The price drop is in effect in the online eShop as well in retail stores wherever the games may be sold.
The popular Japanese role-playing game has been around since 1986, starting with the first game’s release, simply titled Dragon Quest. Ever since then it’s been releasing new titles as the game has only surged in popularity. The game was originally titled Dragon Warrior in the United States until around 2005 when the producers and Square Enix finally decided to officially get rid of that and go with the normal title that is used overseas.

Now, fans of the series can get two well-received recent Dragon Quest games at a discount, as they’ve both dropped in price from $59.99 to $49.99, according to a tweet from Nintendo of America. Dragon Quest XI was released in 2017 on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan as well as the PlayStation 4, and later released in the United States on PS4 and the Microsoft Windows in 2018. The version of the game that recently dropped in price is an enhanced version that was released in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. The new price has only been confirmed for fans of the game in North America, so hopefully, there will be news coming out in the next couple of days for a possible price reduction in regions elsewhere.
Dragon Quest: XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition was released recently for PS4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One in 2020, an enhanced version of the game that would be able to work well on the consoles better. It’s unclear if there will be a price drop soon on this version of the game on these consoles instead of just the Switch, but if there is there will be an update soon. As for Dragon Quest Builders 2, a game that’s available on the Switch, PS4, and Microsoft Windows, there is also no current update if there will be a drop on the last two editions either.
Both games have done well for Nintendo and the Dragon Quest series is quite popular in general. If players wanted the chance to pick them up and see what this popular series is all about, now would be the perfect time to do so, at least for those who want to play the games on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
