Falcon & Winter Soldier Adds Top Gun 2’s Danny Ramirez In Pivotal Role

Movies

The cast of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier continues to grow, as Top Gun: Maverick‘s Danny Ramirez has joined the production in a pivotal role. Originally set to be the first of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ shows, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will focus on Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Due to production delays caused by COVID-19, though, the show will not be released until 2021.

When The Falcon and The Winter Soldier does arrive on Disney+, it will greatly expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show marks the first time Sam and Bucky will be the main characters in a story and they will have a big ensemble around them. Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) and Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) are among the familiar characters returning, while US Agent (Wyatt Russell) is one of the biggest new faces the show will introduce. The cast list also includes several other actors who might play major characters from Marvel Comics, and now another cast member has been revealed.

According to THR, Danny Ramirez will play a pivotal character in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but the identity of his role is being kept under wraps. Ramirez previously played Mario Martinez in On My Block and appeared in Assassination Nation and Marvel’s The Gifted. He also has a role lined up in Top Gun: Maverick as Fanboy. The timing of this report coincides with production taking place in Prague, but it is unclear if Ramirez is just now joining the show or if he has been part of the project for much longer.

Ramirez is the latest mystery addition to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘s cast. It has previously been reported that Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Adepero Oduye, Noah Mills, Erin Kellyman, and Carl Lumbly have roles in the show, but none of them have been revealed. What makes Ramirez’s addition slightly more intriguing is him having a “pivotal” role. That could mean that he will be featured throughout The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and possibly tease he’s playing someone from the source material.

Without any clues on who Ramirez is playing, there are countless possibilities for his role, if he is indeed someone from the comics. There are several clues that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will help build towards the Thunderbolts, so he could be original members like Atlas, Mach-1, or Techno. Some rumors have suggested that the group Ultimatum will be included in the show too, so Ramirez could play Flag-Smasher potentially. There’s even a chance that Ramirez’s pivotal role could be as the new Falcon in the MCU, as he could potentially be Joaquín Torres, who becomes the new Falcon after Sam becomes Captain America in the comics. With so many possibilities, fans will likely have to wait until The Falcon and The Winter Soldier starts streaming to find out who Ramirez is playing.
