When one becomes a 90 Day Fiancé cast member, social media fame follows fast. Deavan Clegg, too, is widely popular on Instagram with over 458k followers. But while most of Deavan’s fans keep double-tapping their way through all the life updates that she shares, many are trolls who nit-pick her each and every move. Seems like now, Deavan’s latest Instagram campaign with Drascilla is also being attacked. But it’s only because the 90 Day Fiancé star promises cash prizes to her contest winner, amidst the Jihoon child abuse allegations.
While Deavan was introduced on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way as an eager-to-please future daughter-in-law for Jihoon’s parents, the plot took a problematic turn soon enough. Jihoon didn’t match up to Deavan’s expectations as a husband and father for their newborn Taeyang or her daughter Drascilla. Deavan had quit her own job to move to South Korea, but Jihoon had followed suit, leaving them with loans and no stream of income. The 90 Day Fiancé couple quarreled over money, and later a grave child abuse accusation finally caused their separation. Deavan’s now back in America, trying to tell her story piece by piece while Jihoon tries to better himself in Seoul. But waking up to DMs from trolls is what’s been bothering Deavan since then, and as it appears these 90 Day Fiancé viewers let no chance of chiding Deavan escape. Be it calling her out for her FaceTune experiments or her new love story with Topher Park, Deavan is bombarded with new insults every day. The TLC star is all set to return to reality TV screens with 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, this Sunday. But life off-screen is much more controversial for Deavan as she battles with her child abuse allegations against ex Jihoon. Between the claims, Deavan posted about an Instagram contest, where two users can win $3000 or cosmetics by simply following a random profile and proceeding to follow all the users that the profile is following. Deavan suggests the contest is worldwide, and that after following these steps, just tagging a friend in the comments makes one eligible to win. The post features Deavan sitting with Drascilla and surrounded by wads of cash and cosmetics. But instead of participatory comments, most of the 1000+ that Deavan has received are from the Jihoon-supporting 90 Day Fiancé fan-base. Some of the top-liked ones are asking Deavan why she’s with Drascilla in the picture, by writing, “you said you didn’t want your daughter in the public eye anymore.” Another fan has commented on Deavan’s looks, with, “Deavan is so photoshopped it’s out of control.” And then there are some asking the 90 Day Fiancé star to “get a real job.”
Quite a few of Deavan’s followers are calling the contest a trick, by accusing it of being “fake” and such giveaways “just stealing and reselling your private info.” Fans who remember Jihoon handing over his $3000 savings to Deavan on 90 Day Fiancé are joking that it’s the same money, but there are some who are comparing her with Teen Mom Jenelle Evans who was accused of running a similar “scam.”
The fact that participating in Deavan’s contest involves a user following 45 accounts seems to be a red flag for them. But as the 90 Day Fiancé star deals with a new set of naysayers, there are reports of a photo of Drascilla after her alleged “hair-pulling” incident by Jihoon being circulated. Neither Deavan nor Jihoon has commented on the picture but, the American mom had earlier confessed to having video proof of the supposed event. Deavan and Jihoon have been asked to keep away from the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Tell-All by TLC, so chances of further details of the accusations being shared by either of them are slim. However, knowing how Deavan has always been transparent about her struggles since Day 1, perhaps, it will take her showing actual receipts to prove how much her story holds true.
