Dorinda Medley Admits She Was Fired From Real Housewives Of New York; Says “I Was Excited About Going Back”

Dorinda Medley Real Housewives Of New York

It wasn’t a surprise that Dorinda Medley was leaving Real Housewives of New York after her behavior during Season 12. I love Dorinda, but there was no excuse for her angry and nasty behavior.

She bashed RHONY co-star Tinsley Mortimer for existing  being in a relationship with Scott Kluth, and for not being honest and authentic on the show. When Tinsley announced that she was moving to Chicago, viewers watched Dorinda tell Tinsley, “I’ve got a turkey baster– maybe try and have a baby.” Not cool, Dorinda.

Dorinda interrupted Luann de Lessep’s toast at Luann’s Halloween party to roast Ramona Singer for accusing her of being drunk. It seems no one was immune from Dorinda’s wrath this season.

Dorinda announced in August that she was exiting the show. Dorinda said, “What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice… But all things must come to an end. This was a great outlet for me to heal when my late husband Richard passed away.”

There were whispers that Dorinda was actually fired. There were even rumors that Dorinda’s turkey baster comment angered Housewives producer Andy Cohen, whose son was born via surrogate in February 2019. Andy shot down those rumors but did say that he hoped that Dorinda was taking “a pause,” and would return to the show in the future.

According to Page Six, Dorinda was interviewed by RHONY alum Bethenny Frankel on her Just B podcast and admitted (gasp) that she was indeed fired. Dorinda shared, “I was ready to go back. I was excited about going back. I was planning on going back, and I thought I would have a great year.”

Dorinda doesn’t believe that her leaving the show is a “pause.” She stated, “I’m an old-fashioned girl. If you’re not waitressing and getting paid, you’re not waitressing, OK? You know what I’m saying? So at the end of the day, was it mutual? No,” Dorinda explained.

Dorinda received the news that she was fired while she was arranging for a woman to make a gingerbread version of Blue Stone Manor, Dorinda’s Berkshires estate. Let me just say, I will miss Dorinda making it nice for the holidays at the Bezerkshires.

“I’m thinking how it’s gonna be great for the show. ‘Oh, my God, this is gonna be my season, and I’m gonna come back because everything is done. I’m in a good place,’” Dorinda stated. Oof. That has to sting.

Dorinda knows that Season 12 wasn’t her finest hour. “I probably should have taken a year off. I had a rough season, but that’s what we do as Housewives,” Dorinda remarked. “We have good seasons, we have bad seasons. We come back, and we change it up.”

When Dorinda announced that she was leaving the show, Bethenny sprang to her defense. One silver lining for Dorinda is her relationship with Bethenny. The former New York Housewives have grown closer since Dorinda exited the show. Bethenny even shared that she is working on a project with Dorinda.

I hope that the funny and warm Dorinda of past seasons does return to RHONY in the future. Clip!
