A brand new CG animated trailer has been launched by EA for Star Wars: Squadrons that includes one of the characters that will be featured in the game when it launches this October. The new space combat game is being developed by motive Studios and is set after Return of the Jedi, meaning that it incorporates the Disney-era canon that was established with the film The Force Awakens in 2015.

EA has released a brand new, 7-minute trailer for the upcoming space combat game Star Wars: Squadrons. The fully animated video, titled Hunted, tells a standalone story that is separate from the plot of the game but does feature one of the main characters from the fast-approaching title. Fans can get a glimpse of Imperial pilot Varko Grey as the New Republic forces fight against the remaining Imperial forces around the dockyards of Var-Shaa. Created in collaboration with Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & magic, the trailer has everything you’d want from a Star Wars project, including the famous music and screeching blaster sounds. EA also confirmed that players who pre-order Star Wars: Squadrons will get access to cosmetic items shown in the CG short.

Unlike many other titles that are coming out over the coming months, Star Wars: Squadrons won’t have an upgraded next-gen release. Motive Studios and EA both revealed that there are no plans to release the title specifically for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, the game will still be playable on these consoles thanks to backward compatibility. To compensate for this, though, the game will only cost $40 at launch and is set to have no microtransactions after it launches.
