Cliff, Sierra, & Arlo: Who Pokémon GO’s Team Rocket Leaders Are

Movies

Team Rocket leaders Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra play an important role in Pokémon Go, and facing all three head-on is a necessary step for players that eventually want to confront Giovanni himself. But defeating the leaders requires pinpointing their weaknesses and coming up with a countering strategy ahead of time.

Pokémon Go players can find the Team Rocket leaders at various PokeStops alongside Team Rocket’s infamous Grunts. Players must collect all of the six required Mysterious Components in order to assemble a Rocket Radar, which are found by defeating the Grunts. Players can then use the Rocket Radar by equipping it from the items bag. Then press the icon located in the right-hand corner of the map screen, which will then transform the appearance of the environment. PokeStops that are currently invaded by a Team Rocket leader will have a red ‘R’ marking the spot, allowing players to easily identify and challenge Team Rocket leaders.

Players can simply walk away if they aren’t in the mood for facing that particular Team Rocket leader in Pokémon GO, or if they’re ready for a challenge, they can enter the PokeStop to begin the battle, the same as they would for a Grunt. Rocket Radars can only be used until one of the Rocket leaders has been defeated. Afterwards, players must collect more Mysterious Components to craft another radar.

How To Defeat The Team Rocket Leaders

Team Rocket Leaders in Pokemon Go

Defeating all three of the Team Rocket leaders in Pokémon GO is necessary to confront Giovanni. The key to winning against the Rocket Team leaders is by creating a team that’s able to identify and take advantage of their weaknesses. Having a wide selection of Pokémon at a player’s disposal is important for flexibility, but it’s more important knowing what Pokémon to utilize in order to best counter the leader’s attacks.

Each Team Rocket leader has its own Pokémon lineup and these lineups change every so often. From September 11-17, for instance, Team Rocket Leaders will begin using a completely new selection of Shadow Pokémon. This means players will have to ensure they know the proper counters and move sets before entering a battle with one of the leaders. Granted, players may not know the Team Rocket leader’s lineup before heading into battle, so they may need to face them once to get the know-how before they can be successful. The good news is that Pokémon Go allows players to face a leader as many times as necessary, so if at first a player doesn’t succeed, then they should simply try again.
